NFL posts job for officiating director

Chris Humphreys / USA TODAY Sports

Ever dreamed about being in charge of enforcing the NFL's ridiculously complex rulebook? Well, it's your lucky day.

The NFL posted a job advertisement Friday for the position of executive vice president of officiating. The job will soon be vacated by Dean Blandino, who is reportedly headed into broadcasting.

The eventual hire will make a significant impact on the NFL. This offseason, the league passed a new rule that will see all replays reviewed from the New York office.

Blandino - who has been in his role since 2013 - was set to head this system, but now the NFL is scrambling to find his replacement.

The NFL Referees Association wants Blandino replaced with someone who has on-field experience, so a resume that only includes shouting from the sofa that Dez Bryant caught it probably won't earn an interview.
