Joey Bosa just doesn't want to play by the (unwritten) rules.

After missing all of Chargers training camp last summer while holding out due to offset language in his rookie contract, Bosa has chosen to skip his team's first set of voluntary workouts this week, head coach Anthony Lynn confirmed to ESPN's Eric D. Williams on Tuesday.

Bosa is working with his personal trainer in Florida instead of joining his teammates at Chargers Park in San Diego. He attended Charger rookie camp last spring, but missed the rest of their offseason training after being selected third overall.

Lynn admitted that Bosa is free to do whatever he wants as the workouts are voluntary, but sounded like he was somewhat annoyed by his lack of attendance.

"Your guess is as good as mine," Lynn said, when asked what's going on with Bosa. "Joey and I talked the first day, and he's training with his guy somewhere. But like I said, I'm only focused on the guys that are here trying to build the team."

Quarterbacks Philip Rivers and Kellen Clemens also missed the first set of workouts due to family obligations, but are expected to return next week. Veteran tight end Antonio Gates and pass-rusher Melvin Ingram, who has yet to sign his franchise tag, were also absent.
