Jets strengthen defense with safety Jamal Adams

The New York Jets selected safety Jamal Adams out of LSU with the sixth pick in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft.

Adams may be the Jets' new leader on the back end after the team released Darrelle Revis this winter. The LSU safety has been praised for his strong leadership skills on and off the field, as well as his versatility and physical play.

The Jets make Adams the first defensive back selected in this year's draft and will likely pair him with safety Calvin Pryor, whom they took in the first round in 2014. This is the seventh consecutive draft in which the Jets have picked a defensive player in the first round.
