Broncos' Marshall: Kaepernick is better than every QB signed in FA

Brandon Marshall is one of many in the football community having a hard time understanding how Colin Kaepernick is still without a new team.

The Denver Broncos linebacker tweeted support for his former Nevada teammate Thursday night, while asserting that Kaepernick is better than any quarterback who signed as a free agent this offseason.

The most notable names in that group of signal-callers who found new teams are Mike Glennon, Brian Hoyer, Josh McCown, Nick Foles, Mark Sanchez, and Geno Smith.

Kaepernick, despite throwing 16 touchdowns and just four interceptions in 11 starts for an otherwise horrendous 49ers offense, has gotten little-to-no interest on the open market.

There are many layers in assessing the reasoning behind the controversial development. Some suggest that Kaepernick's skill set isn't a fit for what teams want to do on offense, while there are also rumblings that teams are "blackballing" him for his national anthem protests.

Either way, seeing a talented and proven starter at the most important position on the field remain unsigned well over a month into free agency is particularly odd.

Marshall was one of many players around the league who joined Kaepernick in the pregame demonstrations for much of the 2016 season.
