Report: Romo yet to file retirement papers

Tony Romo has been busy of late. He joined the Dallas Mavericks for one day as an honorary member of the NBA team, participating in practice and sitting on the bench for Tuesday's game.

The former Dallas Cowboys quarterback has been so busy, in fact, that he's yet to file his retirement papers with the NFL, reports ESPN's Todd Archer, who added that he doesn't plan to do so soon, either.

Romo was released by the Cowboys on April 4 and joined CBS as its top color analyst. Because he was cut by Dallas, he has to notify the NFL directly in order to officially retire.

This doesn't mean he intends to return to the NFL, but it does leave the door open if he changes his mind, noted Archer.

If Romo were to return, he'd be a free agent, as the Cowboys relinquished his rights by releasing him.
