The Denver Broncos will have one of their top playmakers back in action for the beginning of the team's offseason workout program.

Running back C.J. Anderson is set for full participation as Phase 1 gets underway this week, head coach Vance Joseph told reporters Monday, according to Mike Klis of 9News.

Anderson missed the final nine games last season due to a torn meniscus.

He's had plenty of time to recover and rehab since the October surgery, though, so he seems on track to be at full strength well in advance of the 2017 campaign.

As things currently stand, Anderson can be considered the favorite for a featured role in the Broncos' backfield rotation.

Devontae Booker making some strides in his second season could change that dynamic, as could drafting one of the many players available in a deep class of running backs.

Anderson took 110 carries for 437 yards and four touchdowns, meanwhile adding another 16 receptions for 128 yards and a score, before having his 2016 season brought to an early end.
