Roethlisberger confirms he'll return for 2017 season

Ben Roethlisberger informed the Pittsburgh Steelers he'll return for his 14th NFL season, he announced Friday on Twitter.

"Steeler Nation will get my absolute best!" wrote Roethlisberger.

The veteran quarterback said in late January that he wasn't prepared to commit to playing another season and was evaluating his future, citing the health concerns of playing football into his late 30s.

The 35-year-old recently backed off his comments, stating in March that he was "leaning toward" playing in 2017.

While Roethlisberger has battled injuries throughout his career, few believed he'd walk away with three years remaining on his contract, and with the Steelers' roster primed for a Super Bowl run.
