Broncos make Bolles 1st offensive lineman off board at 20th overall

Bill Streicher / USA TODAY Sports

The Denver Broncos have selected offensive tackle Garett Bolles out of Utah with the 20th pick of the 2017 NFL Draft.

Bolles is the first offensive lineman off the board, marking the first time in the modern era that no offensive lineman was selected in the draft's first 15 picks.

Broncos general manager John Elway said before the draft he believes there is a Day 1 starter at tackle in the draft. It appears he believes Bolles is that guy.

Garett Bolles Bio

Position: OT
School: Utah
College Experience: Junior

Strengths

  • Arguably the most athletic tackle in this year's draft.
  • Plays out of a wide, strong base.
  • Aggressive blocker who likes to engage defender first.

Weaknesses

  • Needs to add bulk to handle heavier defenders in the NFL.
  • Considered very raw as a prospect. Played only one season at FBS level after beginning career in junior college because of off-field issues.
  • Will turn 25 years of age in May.
