Myles Garrett looking to emulate Von Miller's play, not fashion sense

Myles Garrett is one of the most-lauded defensive prospects in recent memory and is a near-lock to be drafted No. 1 overall by the Cleveland Browns.

The Texas A&M standout has drawn comparisons to Julius Peppers and Jadeveon Clowney for his similar athleticism and build, but he's also been mentioned alongside Von Miller in terms of his instant-impact potential.

Miller - who also starred for Texas A&M before being drafted second overall in the 2011 draft - has cemented himself as arguably the league's best pure pass-rusher, and Garrett is hoping he can follow in Miller's footsteps, though not necessarily in the same shoes.

"I do try to emulate him on the field," Garrett told Luke Easterling of The Draft Wire. "I like his style. I don't know about his fashion sense; I don't know about his cowboy hat and all that. But he seems like a quality person and just genuine. I like how he plays the game, how physical he is, how hard he works to make some plays and how he shows his athletic ability. How he can bend, how he can move, how he can twist, how flexible he is.

"There's no real competition yet, but not only am I trying to beat him, I'm trying to beat everybody. But hopefully, he’ll forgive me and want to teach me more."

Miller has recorded 73.5 sacks, been to five Pro Bowls, and was named Super Bowl MVP in 2015, so while Garrett is expected to become an immediate star, it will be a monumental task to replicate the success Miller has enjoyed in the first half of his career.
