Jaguars' Marrone 'just trying to keep up' with 70-year-old Coughlin

Don't accuse Tom Coughlin of being too old to still be in football because it would be rather insulting to Doug Marrone.

Coughlin, the former Jacksonville Jaguars head coach now serving as the team's executive vice president, has been keeping Marrone, who still calls Coughlin "coach," busy in their first year together, despite his age of 70.

"I just look at it he comes in every day and works extremely hard, I’m just trying to keep up," Marrone, 52, told Paul Schwartz of the New York Post. "It’s amazing. People ask me, I go, 'Gosh, obviously I’m younger, but shoot, I got to keep up with coach.'

"We're going 100 miles an hour. I see someone I have a great amount of respect for, I spent a ton of time with now, and the great thing about coach that I love is he knows what he wants, he knows how it should look and there's no agenda. All he wants to do is win, and that's all I want to do."

Coughlin coached the Jaguars from 1995-2002 and returned to help the team take full advantage of the young talent on the roster.

The former coach may be moving a little too fast to start, though, as he's been flagged by the NFLPA for three CBA violations.
