Bears' Fox: 'We're in striking distance'

Kirby Lee / USA TODAY Sports

Despite coming off the franchise's worst 16-game season ever, head coach John Fox has a lot of confidence in his Chicago Bears.

Fox's team was hit hard with the injury bug last season and he's got two new faces at the top of his quarterback depth chart. The team has also added several bodies at receiver, defensive line, and in their secondary, but Fox believes all these changes will pan out next season.

"Going back to a lot of the changes, we've had a lot of change. I think we're better for it," Fox told CSN's John Mullin. "Unfortunately, you can't walk around with your chest out about that because of our record the last two years. But I have total confidence and (General manager Ryan Pace) has done an outstanding job and will continue to.

"I understand you have to win. And I finally feel like we're in striking distance."

The Bears are currently on a six-year playoff drought, failing to reach the postseason under Fox or his predecessor Marc Trestman, and finishing last in the NFC North through the previous three seasons.
