The New England Patriots are among the teams that inquired about the availability of Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports.

The Seahawks have made it clear they are willing to listen to trade offers for their star defender, but head coach Pete Carroll said Wednesday he doesn't anticipate a deal.

Before they gave free-agent cornerback Stephon Gilmore a five-year, $65-million contract with $31 million fully guaranteed, the Patriots reportedly kicked the tires on Sherman.

Evidently, the Patriots weren't willing to meet the Seahawks' asking price.

Sherman will turn 29 on Thursday. He is set to make $11.431 million this year and $11 million next year.
