Cardinals' Ellington moving to wide receiver

The Arizona Cardinals didn't re-sign running back Andre Ellington to a one-year deal earlier this month, they signed wide receiver Andre Ellington.

Head coach Bruce Arians confirmed the position switch Wednesday, saying Ellington will attend receiver meetings.

Ellington's best asset as a running back was always his receiving ability, so the move makes sense.

The Cardinals entered 2016 with a very deep receiving corps, but have since released Michael Floyd and watched as John Brown battled health issues. Larry Fitzgerald isn't getting any younger, either.

With Ellington switching positions, running back will become a need for the Cardinals. David Johnson is their workhorse, but the team must be careful about over-using him.
