At least two NFL teams have reportedly determined that controversial running back Joe Mixon will not be on their draft boards.

There is "zero percent chance" the Miami Dolphins will select the Oklahoma product at the upcoming NFL draft, a source informed Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald on Monday. Their AFC East rivals, the New England Patriots, "will not even consider" using a draft pick on Mixon, reports Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald, citing a source.

Mixon was caught on surveillance video punching a female Oklahoma student in the face in 2014. The assault resulted in a lengthy trial and intense scrutiny of his football career.

The Patriots' stance on players with a history of violence against women dates back to 1996 when they selected defensive tackle Christian Peter in the fifth round of the draft. As Howe notes, the Patriots released Peter three days after learning of his violent past, which included sexual assault.

"While I believe in second chances and giving players an opportunity for redemption, I also believe that playing in the NFL is a privilege, not a right," team owner Robert Kraft told the Herald. "For me, personally, I believe that privilege is lost for men who have a history of abusing women."

Mixon played two years at Oklahoma and racked up 1,274 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns on the ground in his redshirt sophomore season. He's projected to be drafted as high as in the third round of April's draft. Just which team will make that selection remains to be seen.
