Jackson: Browns won't trade No. 1 pick for QB

The Cleveland Browns will do just about anything to achieve a franchise quarterback. Trading the No. 1 pick in the draft isn't one of those things.

Speaking at the coaches' breakfast in Arizona on Tuesday, head coach Hue Jackson said trading the top overall pick in this year's draft for a quarterback is out of the question.

"No, I can tell you no on that one," Jackson said, according to Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer. "Until we have the guy that we feel comfortable with that will be the face of our franchise, and play QB the way we want them to play, we're going to keep searching. ... There's the draft that's coming up. There's trade opportunities hopefully. We'll exhaust every opportunity."

The Browns have been rumored to be interested in acquiring backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo from the New England Patriots. It sounds as though the top pick won't be in play, however.

Cleveland also owns the 12th pick and the 33rd pick in the draft.
