The Buffalo Bills have their eyes on the fifth-year option in receiver Sammy Watkins' contract.

A decision on Watkins' $13.258-million option will be due May 2 and new Bills head coach Sean McDermott said "the next couple weeks will be big for that," according to Mike Rodak of ESPN.

Watkins is unquestionably the team's top receiving threat, but he battled foot issues in 2016 and played in only eight games, compiling 430 yards and two touchdowns.

McDermott said he recently met with Watkins and is looking forward to the receiving corps the team has compiled.
