Report: NFL expected to pass rule prohibiting leaping over line on kicks

The NFL's owners are expected to vote Tuesday to pass a rule prohibiting defensive players from leaping over the offensive line to block field-goal and PAT attempts, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.

Though still exceptionally rare, the play gained momentum in 2016, with players like the New England Patriots' Shea McClellin and the Seattle Seahawks' Bobby Wagner successfully pulling it off.

Former head coach and color commentator John Madden has reportedly pushed for the rule change, asserting an offensive lineman will eventually be seriously injured by the play.
