Browns' Haslam unsure of Osweiler's future: We could trade him, or not

Brock Osweiler may be with the Cleveland Browns for now, but the quarterback could very well be somewhere else in the near future.

Head coach Hue Jackson first said it Sunday and owner Jimmy Haslam reiterated the Browns' noncommittal to Osweiler's future with the team at league meetings Monday.

"Brock could be on our team or we could trade him," Haslam told reporters, according to cleveland.com's Mary Kay Cabot. "There's lots of options out there and like I said you guys should cover it with (VP of football operations) Sashi (Brown) tomorrow ...

"Brock's on our roster and as long as he's on our roster, we're going to coach him hard."

The Browns acquired Osweiler and his hefty salary from the Houston Texans on the opening day of free agency to pick up a second-round pick, which Haslam was quite proud of Monday.

"We're excited about getting the second-round pick and we're excited to add a guy to our roster who has won games in the NFL,'' said Haslam. "We now have eight first- or second-round picks in the next two years. We're excited about that.''

The Browns have not had contact with Osweiler due to the rules of the collective bargaining agreement, but they intend to have him compete with second-year quarterbacks Cody Kessler and Kevin Hogan, if he's not traded or released by training camp.
