Rams find Goff a target with Cooper Kupp in 3rd round
Steven Bisig / USA TODAY Sports
The Los Angeles Rams have selected receiver Cooper Kupp out of Eastern Washington in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft, 69th overall.
A reliable target who can provide value both on the outside and in the slot, Kupp could prove to be a big-time addition for a Rams offense that needs playmakers in the worst way.
Kupp will presumably be in the mix for starting snaps alongside Tavon Austin and free-agent signing Robert Woods as a rookie.

Strengths
- Sharp route-runner who makes a living on short and intermediate patterns.
- Major production. Caught more than 100 passes in each of his past three seasons.
- Understands coverages and knows how to find the soft spot in zones.
- Sneaky elusiveness after the catch despite not being a burner.
- Good hands. Doesn't body-catch or lose focus in traffic.
Weaknesses
- Lacks elite speed and isn't a true deep threat.
- Will struggle to separate from corners on intermediate routes.
- Needs to get his head turned around quicker on short drops from the quarterback.
- Didn't face top competition at Eastern Washington on a regular basis. May struggle against better athletes at the next level.
