Report: NFLPA investigating Jaguars for possible CBA violation

Kirby Lee / USA TODAY Sports

The NFL Players Association has begun an investigation into a letter the Jacksonville Jaguars' new executive vice president of football operations, Tom Coughlin, sent to a number of players, requesting they return to the team facility for physicals, according to Ryan O'Halloran of the Florida Times-Union.

O'Halloran reports that Coughlin, a former Jaguars head coach re-hired by the club in an executive role in January, sent the letter in March, even though players aren't allowed to report to the team until April 10.

A source informed O'Halloran that an agent brought the letter to the attention of the players' union. Some players were advised by their representatives to adhere to the request while the matter is being investigated.

The Jaguars could be subject to the forfeiture of an OTA workout if they are deemed to have violated the collective bargaining agreement.

This comes on the heels of a report that former Jaguar Jared Odrick has filed a $5.5-million grievance after the team claimed he voided injury guarantees in his contract.
