Jets' Calvin Pryor: Jets unlikely to exercise fifth-year option

The Jets are unlikely to exercise Pryor's fifth-year option, ESPN's Rich Cimini reports.

Analysis:

A first-round pick in 2014, Pryor disappointed in 2016 after a promising 2015 campaign. While he's locked in as the team's starting strong safety for this upcoming season, the Jets can save $7 million by not picking up his fifth-year option for 2018. If that's what the team ultimately decides to do, 2017 will be a contract year for Pryor in which he'll need to step up his play to earn a big deal in free agency.
