The Cleveland Browns have selected defensive end Myles Garrett out of Texas A&M with the first overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft.

Garrett was considered to be the top prospect throughout the entire draft process, and despite late rumors the club might take North Carolina quarterback Mitchell Trubisky, the Browns opted to shore up the defense.

The Texas A&M standout burst onto the scene in his freshman season with the Aggies, posting 11 sacks and 12.5 tackles for loss. He continued his dominance in his sophomore campaign, registering 11.5 sacks and 19.5 tackles for loss.

Teams keyed in on Garrett with double teams throughout his junior season, but the 6-foot-4, 272-pounder still finished with 8.5 sacks and 15 tackles for loss.

He will immediately help a Browns pass rush that ranked 30th in the league last season, posting just 26 sacks in 16 games.
