Report: Packers sign Jean Francois to 1-year, $3M deal
The Green Bay Packers are breaking from convention as they signed another free agent Thursday when they inked defensive lineman Ricky Jean Francois to a one-year, $3-million contract, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Typically quiet during free agency, the Packers also landed tight end Martellus Bennett on the open market.
The Packers will be Jean Francois' fourth team in nine seasons. He came into the league with the San Francisco 49ers, played two years with the Indianapolis Colts, and spent the past two seasons with the Washington Redskins. He started six of the 16 games he played in last year and totaled 32 tackles and 1.5 sacks.
Jean Francois ameliorates the depth on the Packers' defensive line, but playing on a one-year deal, he will be asked to prove he can remain productive at 30 years old.
