Report: Several Redskins GM targets not interested in interviewing for job

The Washington Redskins don't exactly appear to have personnel executives kicking down the door to take over their newly available general manager job.

As the club sets out in search of a replacement for Scot McCloughan, several top targets have already bowed out and removed their names from consideration, according to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports.

The lack of interest, La Canfora adds, stems from concerns over how the team is run by owner Dan Snyder and president Bruce Allen.

A controversial move to fire the well-respected McCloughan just two years into his contract, and later leaking to the media that he was let go because of a relapse with past alcohol issues, do no favors to the perception of an organization that's long been dysfunctional.

Washington will inevitably find a new general manager before long, as the job remains just one of 32 in a highly competitive personnel landscape. What remains to be seen is whether Snyder and Allen will have any luck reeling in the kind of highly regarded candidate that can help turn things around.

Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers general manager, and current ESPN analyst, Mark Dominik was among the notable names linked to the job following McCloughan's dismissal.

NFL Network's Mike Mayock is also reportedly in the mix, but he released a statement indicating he remains focused on his obligations leading up the draft and that there's been no communication with Washington officials.
