Torrey Smith: Kaepernick better than some QBs with jobs

Steve Mitchell / USA TODAY Sports

Wide receiver Torrey Smith admitted two days after he was released by the San Francisco 49ers that his two seasons with the team were "terrible." Nevertheless, he had nothing but positive things to say about his quarterback for some of that time.

Smith took to Twitter on Wednesday to question why former 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick remains without a job while other less-talented QBs have been scooped up.

Smith and Kaepernick played in just 11 games together. It was enough time to prove to the now-Philadelphia Eagles wideout that Kaepernick deserves a roster spot, however.

Niners general manager John Lynch revealed last week that Kaepernick was close to signing with another team, yet there are some league executives who fear signing the polarizing figure after he took a knee during the national anthem ahead of games last season.
