NFL to make 'educational training video' for acceptable celebrations

You read that headline correctly.

As the NFL continues its puzzling emphasis on regulating how players choose to enjoy their accomplishments on the field, visuals will now be distributed to ensure that all such rules are understood.

Troy Vincent, the NFL's vice president of football operations, announced Tuesday an "educational training video" will be created to show players "clear examples of appropriate and inappropriate celebrations."

To be fair, a report from ESPN's Kevin Seifert earlier this month indicated the league was considering relaxing celebration rules that led to an increase in penalties last season.

And perhaps the "training video" will be a useful tool that outlines whatever restrictions remain thereafter.

But at a time when there are so many other issues to address, it's particularly curious that resources are constantly devoted to ensuring that, among other things, touchdown celebrations are limited to an acceptable amount of hip thrusts.

Aside from dunking the ball through the goal posts, which could conceivably cause damage, how can unique celebrations be considered anything but a net positive for football?

The "No Fun League" label isn't going away anytime soon.
