Mexican company apologizes, says man accused of Brady jersey theft resigned

The Organizacion Editorial Mexicana (OEM), Mexico's largest newspaper company, says the man who is accused of stealing Tom Brady's jersey after Super Bowl LI is no longer an employee.

In a statement written in Spanish and translated by theScore, OEM said Martin Mauricio Ortega Camberos resigned for personal reasons:

On March 14, 2017, at approximately 20:30, C. Martin Mauricio Ortega Camberos turned up at OEM's corporate offices to present his resignation as the director of the newspaper La Prensa, citing motives of personal character.

Camberos externalised that he was going through difficult times, related to health problems of close relatives.

The NFL says it believes a credentialed member of the international media is responsible for the theft of Brady's jersey, as well as his jersey following Super Bowl XLIX two years ago and perhaps items from Super Bowl 50 MVP Von Miller's locker, too.

OEM would not confirm that Ortega Camberos is responsible for the theft, but "offers a public apology to our readers and Mexican society for these regrettable actions."
