Dolphins' Jakeem Grant: Doesn't have obvious path to more playing time

Grant will have a hard time earning a key role in the Dolphins' offense, the Miami Herald reports.

Analysis:

The 2016 sixth-round selection logged only 19 offensive snaps as a rookie, buried on the wideout depth chart behind Jarvis Landry, DeVante Parker, Kenny Stills, and (at times) fellow rookie Leonte Carroo. Listed at only 5-foot-6 and 165 pounds, Grant primarily contributed on special teams, returning 19 kicks for 439 yards and 20 punts for 165 yards and a touchdown. With Landry, Parker, and Stills all returning, Grant will have to compete with Carroo and Rashawn Scott for the No. 4 and 5 receiver spots. In the event of an injury to one of Miami's top-3 wideouts, Carroo would be the best bet to step into a regular role. Grant likely will need to earn his keep as a return specialist and occasional gadget player.
