Brady's stolen Super Bowl jerseys found in Mexico

Kirby Lee / USA TODAY Sports

The jersey stolen from Tom Brady's locker following Super Bowl LI has been located, the NFL announced.

The jersey was found in Mexico, which necessitated the involvement of the FBI and Mexican authorities, according to Houston police chief Art Acevedo.

It's a remarkable turn in a case that seemed to go cold in recent weeks, with little in the way of updates beyond the Patriots asserting their confidence that the jersey would eventually be found.

Even more remarkable: Authorities also located Brady's jersey from Super Bowl XLIX two years ago, which apparently was also stolen by the same person.

Little was revealed about the culprit except that he or she was a credentialed member of the international media.

Brady's Super Bowl LI jersey has immense historical significance for the NFL, as it was worn by the veteran quarterback as he conducted the biggest comeback in Super Bowl history en route to winning a record fifth Super Bowl ring.
