Report: McCown leaves meeting with Jets without deal

Scott R. Galvin / USA TODAY Sports

The New York Jets spent the weekend meeting with free agent Josh McCown, but allowed the quarterback to leave their premises without signing a deal, according to Albert Breer of The MMQB.

The two sides were reportedly engaged in contract talks and Breer reports those discussions will continue, but absent a deal, the door remains slightly ajar for a possible run at fellow free-agent quarterback Jay Cutler. The Jets were rumored to be making a play for the former Chicago Bear before turning their attention to McCown.

New York only has young passers Bryce Petty and Christian Hackenberg on their roster, increasing the likelihood the team will sign a veteran for the 2017 season.
