Colts re-sign Darius Butler to 1-year deal

The Indianapolis Colts have re-signed veteran defensive back Darius Butler to a one-year contract, the team announced Friday.

Official terms of the agreement were not disclosed, but Butler will remain in Indianapolis for a sixth season under a salary of $3 million that can be worth up to $4.5 million with incentives, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.

Butler excelled upon making the transition to safety last season, and the new deal is presumably made with the intention of having him continue as a starter in that new role.

The 30-year-old finished the 2016 campaign with 33 tackles, three interceptions, and seven passes defensed across 12 total games and seven starts.
