The Indianapolis Colts have signed free-agent defensive tackle Al Woods, his agency confirmed Thursday.

Woods - who was released by the Tennessee Titans at the outset of free agency - joins the Colts on a two-year, $5-million contract, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports.

Adding the seven-year veteran should provide an upgrade to an area of the field that's been a longstanding issue on the Colts' roster.

Woods started seven of his 12 regular-season appearances last season for a Titans defense that ranked second only to the Dallas Cowboys in fewest rushing yards allowed.
