Eagles' Jordan Matthews: Can settle in as slot
Matthews will primarily operate from the slot, with free-agent acquisitions Alshon Jeffery and Torrey Smith lining up outside, NJ.com reports.
Analysis:
The 2014 second-round selection has mostly worked from the slot to this point in his career, but he's also taken some snaps outside -- where he's far less effective -- due to the lack of surrounding talent in Philadelphia's offense. Matthews can now settle in as a full-time slot man, free to focus on what he does best. However, the offseason additions do add significant competition for targets in an offense that also features TE Zach Ertz as a crucial component of the passing game. Entering the final season of his rookie contract, Matthews is in real danger of drawing fewer than 100 targets for the first time in his career.
