Romo takes home $64 performance bonus for 2016 season
One series of action in Week 17 was enough to get Tony Romo a little bonus heading into the offseason. Emphasis on "little."
Among the most notable sums recently handed out as part of the NFL's performance-based pay program was the soon-to-be former Dallas Cowboys signal-caller bringing in just $64.11, according to ESPN's Todd Archer.
The year-end bonuses come from a pool distributed equally among all 32 teams, with players being given the extra cash based on how their playing time relates to their earnings for the year.
Dak Prescott, the fourth-round rookie who started all 16 games in place of Romo while making $545,848, is on the opposite end of the bonus spectrum. The fellow Cowboys quarterback reportedly brought in $353,544.57.
With Romo only playing six snaps in the regular-season finale, albeit in leading an efficient touchdown drive, the small bonus makes sense alongside his lucrative salary.
It's safe to assume he won't have to worry about not spending it all in one place.
