The Minnesota Vikings have signed former Green Bay Packers first-round defensive end Datone Jones, the team announced Tuesday.

Official terms of the deal weren't disclosed, but the two sides agreed to a one-year deal worth a base of $3.75 million that can be worth up to $5 million, NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reports.

Jones didn't exactly pan out after being selected No. 26 overall in the 2013 draft, starting just seven of his 59 appearances across four seasons in Green Bay.

By transitioning to a Vikings team that will presumably line him up solely as a 4-3 defensive end, though, it seems possible he'll still have the chance to emerge as an impact player.

Jones joins the Vikings with nine sacks on his NFL resume. He'll slot in as a rotational edge-defender behind Everson Griffen, Brian Robison, and Danielle Hunter.
