Falcons add WR Roberts to offensive attack

Tim Fuller / USA TODAY Sports

The Atlanta Falcons have added to their receiving corps by signing free-agent wideout Andre Roberts to a reported one-year, $1.8-million contract with $750,000 guaranteed, according to ESPN's Dan Graziano.

Roberts joins Julio Jones, Mohamed Sanu, and Taylor Gabriel as weapons for quarterback Matt Ryan. Atlanta lost Eric Weems to free agency.

"Andre is an experienced receiver that will come in and compete for our returner spot as well as provide depth at wide receiver," general manager Thomas Dimitroff said in a statement.

Used sparingly by the Detroit Lions last year, Roberts played in every game but recorded a mere 14 catches and one touchdown. He's four years removed from his best season - a 759-yard, five-touchdown year with the Arizona Cardinals in 2012.
