Even in the storied history of the Cowboys, DeMarcus Ware stands out as one of Dallas' all-time great players - and owner Jerry Jones recognized the pass rusher's impact on the franchise following his retirement Monday.

Jones heaped praise onto his franchise's all-time sack leader, calling him "one of the most dynamic players" in Cowboys history.

"DeMarcus was everything we could have ever wanted in a player, a person and a representative of the Cowboys organization," Jones said in a statement Monday, according to ESPN's Todd Archer. "He was one of the most dominant NFL players at his position in his era, and he was one of the most dynamic players in the history of the Dallas Cowboys. We wish nothing but the best for DeMarcus and his family, and we appreciate and respect his contributions to the NFL and to our team."

Ware spent nine seasons in Dallas after being drafted 11th overall in 2005. He ended his career with a three-year stint in Denver and won his lone Super Bowl title with the Broncos in 2015.

The Cowboys reportedly want Ware to sign a one-day contract so he can retire as part of the franchise.
