Julio Jones to meet with doctor over potential foot surgery

Brett Davis / USA TODAY Sports

Julio Jones is apparently set to meet with Dr. Robert Anderson on Monday to determine if he needs surgery to remove a bunion on his foot, according to ESPN's Vaughn McClure.

However, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported that the Atlanta Falcons' star wide receiver will undergo minor foot surgery Monday and that he's expected to be ready for training camp.

D. Orlando Ledbetter of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution also reported that Jones doesn't have a surgery scheduled for Monday.

Jones played through several foot injuries during the 2016 season, including missing two games with a sprained toe.

A bunion removal procedure requires a four-week recovery, a medical source told McClure, so the Falcons shouldn't be without their star player for too long if he were to have the procedure.

Despite the injuries and two missed games, Jones finished second in the NFL with 1,409 receiving yards.
