Falcons' Julio Jones: Surgery imminent?

Jones has an appointment next week to learn whether he requires surgery to remove a bunion from his foot, Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com reports.

Analysis:

Jones didn't log a snap in Weeks 14 and 15 with what was initially termed turf toe, but head coach Dan Quinn scaled back the diagnosis, calling the wideout's ailment a toe sprain. Upon his return, Jones earned at least 58 percent of the offensive snaps during the Falcons' march to the Super Bowl, racking up 30 receptions (on 40 targets) for 490 yards and four touchdowns across five outings. After the devastating loss to the Patriots, surgery was discussed to amend the issue, now known as a bunion, which would require a recovery timetable of about four weeks. If the procedure is ordered up, expect Jones to be good to go for the offseason program.
