McCoy scares Bills fans with poorly worded Instagram post

It's become commonplace in the age of social media to see professional athletes break news of their release with posts that express gratitude to the city and its fans.

So one can imagine the brief moment of panic among Bills supporters, and intrigue from those of the NFL's other 31 teams, when LeSean McCoy captioned a video of an autograph session by writing, "Buffalo was so special ... thanks for everything."

Buffalo was so special ... thanks for everything yesterday at the signing.

But fear not, Bills fans. McCoy later updated the caption to clarify he was specifically referring to the signing event.

There's been no indication McCoy will be cut and, given the team would incur a $7.875 million cap hit to part with his $8.875 million salary, such a move seems highly unlikely. Not that the team would want to send him packing, anyway

McCoy reestablished himself as one of the NFL's premier ball-carriers with a highly productive 2016 season, recording 1,267 yards and 13 touchdowns on the ground, which ranked sixth and fourth among league leaders, respectively.

The veteran, acquired in a blockbuster trade with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2015, should remain the centerpiece of a new-look Bills offense heading into the fall.
