Ravens say Elam not in 2017 plans after arrest on multiple drug charges

Baltimore Ravens safety Matt Elam was arrested early Sunday in Miami on multiple drug charges, according to police records obtained by Michael David Smith from Pro Football Talk.

Originally pulled over for reckless driving, Elam was reportedly found to be in possession of 126 grams of marijuana and three grams of oxycodone.

His charges include possessing more than 20 grams of cannabis, possession of cannabis with the intent to sell or deliver, and possession of a controlled substance.

Elam is scheduled for unrestricted free agency after playing 41 games across his four seasons in Baltimore. A statement from the team addressing his arrest all but confirmed he will not be re-signed.

"We are aware of the arrest of Matt Elam," the team said, according to Jeff Zrebiec of The Baltimore Sun. "Matt is not in our plans for the 2017 Ravens."

Elam was selected by the Ravens in the first round of the 2013 draft after a standout college career at Florida.
