Titans' DeMarco Murray: Top RB in Tennessee

Head coach Mike Mularkey considers Murray (foot) to be "the guy" in the Titans' backfield, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports. "He has shown he is the guy and he will continue to be that guy," Mularkey said Wednesday.

Analysis:

Mularkey was asked whether 2016 second-round pick Derrick Henry will be a bigger part of the offense next season, to which the head honcho expressed his support of Murray as the main man. Henry is an insurance policy in the event Murray suffers an injury, but the latter didn't miss one game in his first campaign with the Titans, despite coming down with a torn plantar plate in his right foot in Week 8. Mularkey is a proponent of "a one-two punch to smash it down peoples' throats," so the 29-year-old Murray may yield some touches at times to his younger counterpart. Considering Mularkey's other comments, though, a healthy Murray should be the recipient of 20-plus touches per game, as he was on 11 occasions last year.
