Gronk: Goodell won't be welcome in Foxboro by Patriots fans

Greg M. Cooper / USA TODAY Sports

Tom Brady and Bill Belichick may have disappointed many by not expressing their true feelings about Roger Goodell after the New England Patriots won Super Bowl LI. Rob Gronkowski, however, has no such filter.

In a clip of a sit-down interview conducted by ESPN's Cari Champion, the fun-loving tight end said it was great to see the NFL's commissioner hand over the Lombardi Trophy, after suspending Brady for the first four games of the season. He also shared some insight on how Goodell might be received by Patriots fans back in Foxborough.

"To tell you the truth, I really don't think so," Gronkowski said when asked if Goodell would be welcomed back to town. "The fans are nuts, they're wild, and they have the Patriots' back no matter what. They have Tom's back.

"I'm telling you, he won't get through the highway if the fans saw him. I don't think he can even land in the airport in Boston cause Patriots fans are the best fans, they're the most loyal fans. I'm telling you, they might just carry out Roger themselves."
