Winston hopes Bucs sign Jackson: 'You better believe we want DeSean'

With the Tampa Bay Buccaneers reportedly a possible destination for pending free-agent receiver DeSean Jackson, quarterback Jameis Winston is totally on board.

Winston and Jackson have a rapport from past meetings, as the quarterback grew up cheering Jackson as a fan of the Philadelphia Eagles. He didn't hold back when asked about potentially hooking up with one of his childhood favorites.

"I've met him before, and we want DeSean. You better believe we want DeSean here," Winston told Tampa Bay Times' Greg Auman on Wednesday. "I think he would be a great asset to our team.

"Me growing up an Eagles fan, seeing what he did for the Eagles and back in his Cal days and even with the Redskins, I would love to have DeSean."

The Buccaneers are likely to lose veteran receiver Vincent Jackson, who is a pending free agent as well, and could use Jackson's talents to pair with the physically imposing style of Mike Evans.

Winston is hoping to play a part in Tampa Bay's free-agent signings.

"I feel like I can be one of our best recruiters," he said. "My main focus is to win. That's what I enjoy doing."
