Deshaun Watson: 'I'm not Dak Prescott'

After he won Offensive Rookie of the Year, tied a rookie winning record, and led the Dallas Cowboys to the best record in the NFC, earning a comparison to Dak Prescott should be an honor.

But Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson wants to make it clear that he's his own man.

North Carolina defensive coordinator Gene Chizik, who coached against both players, told FOX Sports last week that "Dak Prescott is kind of what I see Deshaun being." Watson's attracted comparisons to Prescott partly because both have shown better intangible leadership skills than technical passing abilities.

While both have also experienced success in their young careers, Watson shrugged off the similarities Monday, refuting the idea that Prescott's achievements have inflated his own draft value.

"People may look at that. But … I wouldn't go off what Dak did," Watson said, according to Jimmy Burch of the Star-Telegram. "I'm not Dak Prescott. I'm not with the Cowboys. I'm Deshaun Watson, coming from Clemson.

"Scouts have their opinions but, really, those guys aren't the ones making the call. The way I approach it and look at it is, football is football. It's a copy-cat league at every level. Everybody is pretty much doing things the same way."

Watson plans to compete in every drill of the NFL Scouting Combine at the end of February, where he'll look to differentiate himself from Prescott. The Clemson product is expected to be one of the first two quarterbacks selected in 2017 NFL Draft.
