A trade that would send Julius Thomas from the Jacksonville Jaguars to the Miami Dolphins appears all but complete, as the veteran tight end passed his physical with the Dolphins on Tuesday, reports Armando Salguero of The Miami Herald.

All that stands in the way of finalizing the deal, which will reportedly land Jacksonville a seventh-round pick in this year's draft, is time.

The trade should become official when the new league year opens March 9.

After failing to live up to expectations across his two seasons with the Jaguars, Thomas will look to recapture his previous level of play in joining Dolphins head coach, and former Denver Broncos offensive coordinator, Adam Gase.

Consecutive 12-touchdown seasons in Denver made the former fourth-round pick a highly coveted free agent back in 2015, and he parlayed that production into a five-year, $46-million contract with the Jaguars.

The Thomas deal is just one of a pair that the two teams will complete early next month, as left tackle Branden Albert is reportedly heading to Jacksonville in exchange for a late-round pick in 2018.
