Report: Bears actively looking to trade Cutler

Billy Hurst / USA TODAY Sports

The Chicago Bears are actively looking for a team to trade quarterback Jay Cutler to, ESPN's Jeff Darlington reports.

Cutler's been the subject of rampant trade speculation for months, as the Bears seek a new direction entering the 2017 season. Holding the No. 3 selection in the upcoming NFL Draft, it's possible the Bears use their choice on a quarterback.

It's likely that a market will emerge for the veteran quarterback, with many teams in need of a franchise-caliber player. However, it was reported earlier Tuesday that the Arizona Cardinals have 'zero interest' in acquiring Cutler.

Cutler missed 11 games last season due to thumb and shoulder injuries. The 33-year-old completed 59.1 percent of his passes for 1,059 yards, four touchdowns, and five interceptions in five contests.

After the 2013 season concluded, Cutler signed a seven-year, $126-million contract extension with the Bears. Chicago would save $14 million from Cutler's $16-million cap hit if they opted to release him.
