McFadden feels Cowboys 'wouldn't mind' keeping him

Darren McFadden is heading for free agency after playing out his two-year deal in Dallas, and the presence of Ezekiel Elliott means he'll have to head elsewhere if he wants to start.

The Cowboys could certainly use some veteran depth behind their star ball-carrier, though, so perhaps an extension shouldn't be ruled out. McFadden recently told SiriusXM NFL Radio that he believes the team is willing to bring him back in 2017.

"I kinda get the feel that they wouldn't mind keeping me," McFadden said, according to The Dallas Morning News. "I was raised in Arkansas. I live here now. Set up my home here in Texas. I'm a Cowboys fan regardless of whether they decide to bring me back or not."

Whether McFadden remains with the Cowboys presumably depends on the offers he receives on the open market. Coming off a season in which a non-football injury list designation limited him to just three games, the 29-year-old said he has plenty left to offer.

"Oh yeah, definitely. For me, I still feel fresh," McFadden said. "Like you said, I didn't get a lot of wear and tear on my body from the season. I only played in the last three regular-season games and the playoff game. I feel like I have a lot that I can offer any team as far as being out there and a guy that can carry the load. I don't feel like I've lost a step at all. I feel like that any team that want to take a shot at me I don't think it'd be a bad deal for 'em."

McFadden enjoyed one of the most productive seasons of his career upon joining the Cowboys in 2016, tallying 1,089 rushing yards, 328 receiving yards, and three total touchdowns.

Keeping that kind of player behind Elliott at a reasonable price tag would have to be an attractive option for Dallas.
