Report: Dolphins' Albert visiting Jaguars ahead of potential trade

Trade talks between the Miami Dolphins and Jacksonville Jaguars continue to move in the right direction.

Dolphins left tackle Branden Albert is visiting the Jacksonville Jaguars ahead of a potential deal that would send tight end Julius Thomas back the other way, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports.

Rapoport adds that any agreement between the two sides, which can't be made official until the new league year opens next month, could involve Thomas taking a pay cut and Albert receiving a better contract.

If finalized, the trade fills major needs for both the Jaguars and Dolphins.

Albert can immediately step in as the starter on the left side of what's long been an underwhelming offensive line in Jacksonville, while adding Thomas at tight end would have the potential to round out the Dolphins' passing game.

Albert has started 35 games over three seasons in Miami, but the presence of 2016 first-round pick Laremy Tunsil made it sensible to part ways with his contract sooner rather than later.

Thomas was unable to live up to expectations after signing a five-year, $46-million deal with the Jaguars in 2015, recording just 76 receptions for 736 yards and nine touchdowns across two seasons.
