Report: Falcons re-sign defensive assistant Henderson

Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY Sports

Before being passed over for the San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator job, Jerome Henderson re-signed with the Atlanta Falcons as their defensive passing game coordinator, Alex Marvex of the Sporting News reports.

Marvez previously reported that Henderson had resigned from his position before missing the 49ers' job, but corrected himself, stating that his source forgot to write in the missing hyphen when passing along the information.

Henderson had hoped to join former colleague Kyle Shanahan with the 49ers as either defensive coordinator or co-defensive coordinator, but former Jacksonville Jaguars linebackers coach Robert Saleh was awarded the position.

Henderson joined the Falcons before the 2016 season, coming over after a four-year stint as Dallas Cowboys defensive backs coach.
